Purpose & Guidelines

1. The objective and purpose of the Directory is to offer an information medium to the public and match individuals desiring quality, healthy puppies with knowledgeable, reputable breeders. Any financial benefits are strictly secondary and NOT the main intent of the Directory or its advertisers.
2. The Directory does not accept listings from breeders who broker, wholesale, or act as agents for another party in the sale of dogs.
3. The Directory does not accept advertising from breeders who offer puppies or adult dogs for auction or sell puppies or dogs to or through pet shops, grooming shops, boarding kennels, or pet supply stores.
4. The Directory does not accept listings from breeding farm dealers offering puppies and dogs for sale or resale.
5. Only residential addresses and phone numbers are listed. The Directory supports the private HOME breeder, not a place of business or employment. The Directory does not want to give the impression it is endorsing puppy sales or stud service inquiries through a commercial medium.
6. The Directory does not accept commercial advertising of any kind.
7. The phrase "Written Statement of Health" or "Written Health Guarantee" in a listing applies to ALL puppies and adult dogs offered for sale, not just show dogs.
8. Advertisers must follow AKC regulations regarding registrations and record keeping.
9. The Ann Arbor Kennel Club reserves the right to refuse any advertising for any reason.
10. Failure of an advertiser to report truthful and accurate information on applications will result in Ann Arbor Kennel Club Board action.
    

At the time they sign and submit their applications, advertisers are given a copy of the above guidelines as well as additional expectations regarding their activity in the sport of dogs.
